USING THE UCF TERMINAL SERVER
The UCF terminal server allows you to dial (via a
phone modem or a data phone) into the mail server. Currently the
terminal servers are either Cisco model 5100 servers with U.S.
Robotics modems, or Cisco model 5200 servers with Microcom modems.
To communicate with the server, you need a terminal
emulation package. You can use any package which supports VT100
emulation. Some available packages are Procomm for DOS and Windows,
or the terminal program provided with Windows 3.1, Windows 95,
or Windows NT.
The terminal server supports the SLIP and PPP protocols.
Communicating via these protocols is for advanced users only and
requires special software on your computer. See Getting a SLIP/PPP Connection To Your Computer.
This section is for users who are accessing the terminal
server with a phone modem.
The following communication parameters must be used:
This server supports the LAP-M and MNP data compression
and error correction protocols.
